Although the motor came from a running car with just over 135k miles I figured now is a good time for a quick overhaul. Here’s a list of things in store before it goes in:
Today I made some headway before losing power from this super storm Sandy.
I purchased the car knowing that the engine was toast. At first my intensions were to rebuild the original but with a quick inspection I soon realized that it needed a new cylinder head at a minimum. Searching my options I came across someone who bought a running car for the shell only. It was a 1 owner car with 135K on the clock. Two trips to Brooklyn NY and $400 later I had myself a running motor.

It seems the previous owner had the car repainted which isn’t the worst but it also seems that the car may have sat for some time under the sun baking. So at first glance the paint is toast which I figured is a good time to try some of those revival techniques we’ve all read so much about. Here’s my first attempt at it. Not too bad.
